Is this event open to the community?

Yes. Men, women, college students, and children of all ages are invited. The Family Fun Run will have its own separate course.

Competitive running will take place on the 10K and 5K courses.

 

Is this a competitive race?

Running2Rescue is a competitive race and will be timed with a professional chip-timing system. The first three males and

three females to cross the finish line in both the 10K and the 5K will each receive recognition and be presented with a medal

at our Post Run Award Ceremony.

 

Do I have to register my children?

For the 10K, 5K, or Family Fun Run:

  • Children 5 and under do not have to register and are free of charge. Liability waiver signed by a parent or guardian includes minors
    attending with a participating adult.
  • Children ages 6-11 must be registered with an adult and must turn in a completed liability release waiver signed off by a parent or guardian.
  • Children 12 and over are required to register as an adult participant. If they are under the age of 18, they must have a parent or guardian
    sign off on their liability release waiver.

 

May I register on race day?

Yes. Keep in mind that the registration fee will increase the day of the race. Please see the “Event Details” tab on the home page for exact prices.

 

When do I have to pick up my race bib?

It is preferred that runner numbers/bibs be picked up prior to race day. Pick up dates are listed on the “Event Details” tab on the home page.

 

Where will parking be?

The largest available parking lot is the southern lot used by the Panhandle South Plains Fair. We have reserved this large lot for our use. Other lots include the one right next door owned by Moonlight Musicals. Internals lots will be closed off and unavailable. Follow signage and plan early. Provide ample time to find parking, walk down the hill to the Warm-up Party, register and/or pick up bibs.

 

Will shuttles be provided?

No.

 

How long is the race?

We offer three race lengths: 10K (6.2 miles); 5K (3.1 miles); Family Fun Run (approximately 1 mile).

 

What happens when I have completed my walk/run?

You can celebrate with your friends! Complimentary refreshments will be provided. Then wait for the medal awards ceremony to begin and, if interested, print your results at the Athlete Guild kiosk located just past the finish line.

 

Will runners and walkers be separated for the races?

Yes, the runners will be asked to line up first. Walkers will line up right behind the runners.  Everyone starts at the same time.

 

Do I need to collect donations to be a part of Running2Rescue?

No. However, keep in mind that a small percentage of your registration fee will be used to cover race day expenses, so we do welcome additional donations. 100% of donations will benefit OneVo!ceHome.

 

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes. You can donate online under the “Sponsorship” tab or you can mail or drop off a donation. Please make payable to Trinity Church and send to:

How will proceeds be used?

All donations will be sent to OneVo!ceHome to build a safe house in the West Texas area for underage girls who have been sexually exploited.

Will bicycles, scooters, rollerblades, or skateboards be allowed?

None of the above mentioned items will be allowed on the chipped timed race courses.  No small children will be allowed the use of bicycles on the Family Fun Run course this year.  Parents/guardians must assume responsibility of their children’s safety and everyone on the course at all times.

 

Are pets such as dogs allowed on the course?

No. Please leave pets at home.

 

Are strollers allowed?

Yes. However, you are responsible for the safety of your children. R2R will not monitor children as they run the course.

Children should stay within close proximity of a parent or guardian.

 

Will water be provided?

Yes. We will position three stations along the course, providing water, Powerade, and minor medical first aid care.

 

Can my registration be transferred?

Yes - if you are unable to participate due to a change in scheduling you can transfer to the person of your choice. Results are data sensitive. Age and gender and race must be inserted into the chip timing systems. Please email us at info@running2rescue.com to notify us that this bib number will have changes occurring.

 

Will there be public restrooms?

Yes. Port-a-potties will be available.

 

What if it rains?

We will walk/run in the rain. Should the race be canceled because of a catastrophic event, all fees and sponsorships will be considered donations to OneVo!ceHome through Trinity Church.

 

How do I volunteer for this event?

Go to the “Volunteer” tab on the home page and register. And THANK YOU for your willingness to donate your time to this worthy cause.

Running2Rescue, AKA R2R, is a nonprofit event that raises awareness of the scourge of human trafficking and works to bring healing and empowerment to local survivors.  All donations made to this campaign will be distributed to the OneVoiceHome, a local organization— and a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization -- dedicated to developing a residential safe home for underage girls rescued from bondage. All donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
